Kimmy the yogi
So. this week, I started doing yoga at the very comfort of my home.
Recently, I've hated going out to do stuff. I know it’s a complete 360 for me because I used to do almost everything away from home hahahaha but now, I’m this person who would give up her left tit just so she won’t get to go outside.
I thought about trying out Hatha yoga. Hatha yoga is a kind of yoga which is gentle, slow-paced and focused on controlled breathing and holding poses for a short time.
My primordial consideration for engaging in this kind of activity is that it is not only physical in nature but also mental and spiritual. It’s majorly about the alignment of your body, mind and spirit and all about taking everything slow, appreciating the present and not worrying about all other things. I’m into a lot of stress lately. I’m practically freakin’ out and in a mood almost everyday. So yeah, it’s safe to say that I needed yoga so badly.
So one morning, I just decided to buy a pink yoga mat. Another thing about yoga is that you really don’t need to spend a lotta money for it. Actually, you won’t need to spend a dime if you already have a yoga mat. It’s basically requiring you to have three things: a body, a yoga mat and an indomitable desire to know yourself better. I downloaded 30 days yoga for beginner videos online and a calming Indian instrumental background. I also ordered incense online just to get going the total yoga parlor vibe.
So yeah, I gave it a try. It was very refreshing and calming. I felt so lightheaded and relaxed after. I was also sweating so much during the activity so maybe while doing this, I get to lose some pounds too.
Today, at around 10 am, I was already holding yoga positions in all my half naked glory. One of the benefits I get so far from this is that I became more aware of my body. In all the four sessions I had, the instructor kept on emphasizing the need to be aware of certain parts of my body while holding positions and aligning them with deep breathing patterns, all while zoning out and not caring about anything else.
Over all, I can say that yoga is downright addictive. I’ll try to finish 30 days and do yoga every morning. After Hatha yoga, I’m also planning to try Vinyasa Yoga which is more intense and requires faster pacing.
That’s all for now folks.
Namaste.
