Coffee with Kimmy: Along Came Polly

Okay. So, while we're enjoying this nice cozy weather we're having here in the metro and while we're having our hot coffee, let's talk about the latest awesome movie we have watched. Orayt, me first.

Let me tell you that I'm not really big on movies. I'm more of a book person. But in this entry, I wanna tell you about my love for this particular movie which I watched today and which totally had an impact on me. There are a lot of movies which are fun to watch but are forgettable. This one though, this one's downright hilarious but it's also full of life and love lessons. It's also very relatable.

So the title of the film is "Along Came Polly" and it's starring Ben Stiller and Jennifer Aniston. The story is basically about a guy who got cheated on by his wife on the first day of their honeymoon. So yeah, he moved on and met this girl named Polly. Being an insurance analyst, Ben's character is very conservative with respect to the activities that he's engaging on and he's always making sure that the risks he's taking are all managed. On the other hand, Polly is a fun, free soul who is very clumsy and carefree. So from those descriptions, you can easily tell that they're at opposite poles when it comes to their decisions in life and they are totally different individuals.

As the movie progressed, Ben Stiller, in many instances, tried to make concessions as to the kind of life Polly was living, i.e. he studied how to dance salsa despite not being a good dancer just because Polly was crazy about salsa, he ate spicy food albeit having mild irritable bowel movement, etc.

So long story short, there came a time when Ben had to chose between his cheater wife and Polly. He got tempted to go back to his wife but then, he ultimately chose to let go of that bitch and be with Polly instead.

So here are some of the learnings I had with this movie:
1. We always have choices. Even if we think we have none, the reality is, we have and we will always have choices.
2.  Life has a special way of making us realize that we made a wrong decision. But a wrong decision is one freakin' step closer to the right decision. So yeah, a wrong decision is still a good decision. You just have to be positive about it.
3. Having a wife/husband and a white picket-fenced-house is not everyone's definition of a happy ever after. As soon as you accept this, you'll be a happy man/woman. I know, I am. :)
4. Cheating on someone once is fucking enough for the other party to leave and move on. Cheating is cheating. Nothing will ever make it right and no matter how many times you tell yourself that your partner is going to change, he/she will not. Stop dreaming and start living in the real world hahaha.
5. You would not do crazy things and you will not compromise for someone you do not care about. :')

So what about you? Can you tell me about the latest awesome movie you have watched and how that made you feel?

Xoxo,
Kimmy
